The A flair seems to me to be C. Snow's best novel since The Masters; indeed, in a number of ways it compares quite favourably with the earlier book. Its success is not due to any startling in- crease in Snow's literary powers, but rather to the fact that he has chosen a subject and setting where he can display them to best advantage.
