Ray of the Star, by Laird Hunt is a book for anyone interested in experiencing a new genre. This story begins with Harry who is looking to begin an "assault" on his own life.
He meets Alfonso who finds Solange, then, he also finds Solange himself. Solange is a street performer who works as a living statue/5(3). Beyond form, Ray of the Star (apparent now after reading The Exquisite and Indiana, Indiana) is textbook Hunt: a narrator embroiled in observation and then participation, obsessed with the internal machinations of a set of characters, and painting for readers something like an hallucination that sucks you in because of how tangible it looks and feels.4/5.
THE STARS seems very simplistic, and it's written by the author of the "Curious George" series, but it is definitely not a kids' book. It never gets too technical, but Rey does go into a bit of depth in the later chapters.
